“Anything is possible if you try” - Terry Fox

On Thursday, October 7th, all students from St. Monica school will participate in a cross country event where each cohort will be assigned a time to go outside and walk or run. This activity has been inspired by the Marathon of Hope initiated by Terry Fox and we invite all students to “try like Terry” to promote school and community spirit as well as taking part in a fun activity.

In the last 5 years, our community has donated over $10,000 to the Terry Fox Foundation. We are encouraging you to join our effort once again and donate if you can by visiting our fundraising page at this link: St. Monica Nepean. We will monitor our progress at school until October 7th.

My child is not feeling well... what do I do?

Parents and guardians have the responsibility to check and screen their children before sending them to school on a daily basis.

The tool provides clear steps to follow whether your child has a simple runny nose or a full barking cough. Please follow the directions from the screening tool.

Students who are sick with any symptoms must stay home .Ottawa Public Health recommends that if your child has Covid-19 symptoms (fever and/or chills, cough or barking cough (croup), shortness of breath, decrease or loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea) to go to a COVID-19 assessment centre or care clinic to get tested as soon as possible. Your child and household contacts (for example siblings, parents/guardians) are required to self-isolate and stay at home while awaiting test results. If the test is negative (shows your child does not have COVID-19) your child may return to school 24 hours after symptoms have resolved or 48 hours after vomiting and diarrhea have stopped.
